Captain America Captain America is a superhero who fights for justice and freedom. He was created in 1941 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, and he first appeared in the comic book Captain America Comics #1. Captain America is a patriotic superhero who often fought the Axis powers of World War II. He is the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young artist who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental "super-soldier serum." After joining the military to aid the United States government's efforts in World War II, Captain America was trapped in ice and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in modern times. Captain America is a highly respected figure both with the American public and in the superhero community. He is the long-time leader of the Avengers, and he has appeared in many films and television series.

Betsy Braddock and the Japanese mutant ninja Kwannon had a body swap that lasted nearly 30 years of publication history. They were returned to their original bodies in a 2018 story, after which, Betsy permanently took up the mantle of Captain Britain, while Kwannon adopted the Psylocke identity.
