Sahaquiel first appears in the sky above Tokyo-3 and begins to generate a massive amount of water. The water quickly floods the city, causing widespread damage and panic. The Evangelion Unit-01 is deployed to stop Sahaquiel, but the Angel's water attacks prove to be too much for the Eva. However, Unit-01 is eventually able to defeat Sahaquiel by using its AT Field to absorb the Angel's water attacks.
Sahaquiel's defeat is a major turning point in the series. It marks the first time that an Angel has been defeated by the Evangelions, and it gives the humans hope that they may be able to defeat the Angels after all.
