Mac Tonight Mac Tonight was a fictional character used in the marketing for McDonald's restaurants during the late 1980s. He was known for his crescent moon head, sunglasses, and piano-playing. The character was originally conceived as a promotion to increase dinner sales by Southern California licensees, but his popularity led McDonald's to take him nationwide in 1987. Mac Tonight was performed by actor Doug Jones in his fourth Hollywood job and voiced by Roger Behr. The character's signature song was "Mack the Knife," which was made famous in the United States by Bobby Darin. In 1989, McDonald's ceased airing the commercials and retired the character after settling a lawsuit brought by Darin's estate. However, the company reintroduced the character nineteen years later throughout Southeast Asia in 2007.

Oski the Bear Oski the Bear is the official mascot of the University of California, Berkeley, representing the California Golden Bears. He made his debut at a freshman rally in the Greek Theatre on September 25, 1941. Prior to his debut, live bears were used as Cal mascots. Oski's name, design, and character were developed by William "Rocky" Rockwell, who was the first student to play the role, and Warrington Colescott, an editor of The Daily Californian and famed satirist. Oski is a beloved figure on campus and at Cal sporting events. He is always up for a good time and loves to interact with fans. Be sure to say hello to Oski the next time you're at a Cal game!
