Before revealing its true intentions, the Telephone initially appears friendly and helpful towards it's test subjects, proving its capabilities of manipulation and deception to achieve its goal. It is disgusted by Inkling and Octoling culture, such as their sense of fashion and turf wars.

He spent countless hours observing the conductors and learning everything he could about the intricate workings of the metro.
