The First Doctor's original companions were his granddaughter Susan and her schoolteachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. As soon as Tarou puts on the kimono, he feels a strange power surge through his body. Tarou suddenly realizes that he can now understand human speech. Tarou also realizes that he can now see ghosts. Tarou is scared at first, but he soon learns to use his new powers to help people. Tarou helps people who are lost, he helps people who are scared, and he even helps people who are being haunted by ghosts. Tarou is a kind and compassionate cat, and he uses his powers to make the world a better place.

The Second Doctor Patrick Troughton played the Second Doctor, an alien Time Lord who traveled in time and space in the TARDIS with his companions. He was a scruffy, light hearted and bumbling tramp, but he hid a more firm and slightly darker side that he would often use to manipulate his enemies and allies for the greater good. His original companions were the sophisticated socialite Polly and working class sailor Ben Jackson, who travelled with his previous incarnation.
