Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich was a Nazi official who was one of the main architects of the Holocaust. He was born in Halle, Germany, on March 7, 1904. His father was a lawyer and his mother was a homemaker. Heydrich was a bright and gifted child, and he excelled in school. He joined the Nazi Party in 1922 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1931, he was appointed head of the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police.
