MATCH MATCH was created as a clone of Superboy, but with a few key differences. His Kryptonian DNA was incomplete, causing him to be weaker and more unstable than his counterpart. He was kept in a pod for most of his life, only being let out to fight against other clones in a series of battles designed to test his strength and abilities.
