One day, he is visited by a young boy named Hozuki, who is looking for a place to stay. Hanasaka JIISAN welcomes Hozuki into his home and teaches him how to garden. Hozuki quickly learns to love gardening, and he and Hanasaka JIISAN become close friends. One day, Hanasaka JIISAN is working in his garden when he hears a noise. He looks up and sees a group of men carrying a large tree. The men are about to cut down the tree, but Hanasaka JIISAN stops them. He tells them that the tree is special, and that it is home to a group of fairies. The men are surprised, but they agree to leave the tree alone. Hanasaka JIISAN is a kind and gentle soul who loves to tend to his garden. He is also a wise and compassionate man, and he is always willing to help others.
