Minami agrees to keep the cat at her house until it is well enough to be released. Minami names the cat Kyo after one of the characters in Fruits Basket. Kyo is a very friendly cat and quickly becomes attached to Minami. Minami takes Kyo to school with her every day and they become best friends. One day, Minami's friends find out about Kyo and are amazed that she has a pet cat. They ask Minami how she got Kyo and she tells them the story. Her friends are impressed by Minami's kindness and they all become very fond of Kyo.
