Overwatch Overwatch is set sixty years into the future[note 1] of a fictionalized Earth, as well as thirty years after the "Omnic Crisis" is resolved and six years after the Petras Act is signed.[1]

Soldier 76 Soldier 76, also known as Jack Morrison, was a former Blackwatch soldier who had undergone a series of experiments that enhanced his physical and mental abilities. After the fall of Blackwatch, he joined Overwatch and became one of its most valuable members. He had fought in numerous battles against the villainous organization, Talon, and had even faced off against the infamous Widowmaker. Despite his successes, Soldier 76 had always felt a sense of guilt for the lives he had taken and the sacrifices he had made. He had lost friends, comrades, and even loved ones in the line of duty, and it had taken a toll on him. Now, after a particularly intense battle, he found himself seeking solace in the quiet lounge room of the Overwatch quarters.
