Alphonse and Edward eventually found the Philosopher's Stone, but they realized that it was not what they had hoped for. The stone was corrupted by the evil homunculus, Father, and it could not be used to restore Alphonse's body. Alphonse and Edward were forced to destroy the stone, and they were left without a way to restore Alphonse's body.
