One day, a group of fairy tale creatures show up at Shrek's swamp and ask him to help them get back to their homes. Shrek reluctantly agrees, and he and Donkey set off on an adventure. Along the way, they meet Princess Fiona, who is being held captive by Lord Farquaad. Shrek and Donkey rescue Fiona, and they all travel to Farquaad's castle.
