Fitzwilliam Darcy

Fitzwilliam Darcy is the aloof romantic hero and one of the two central characters in Jane Austen's 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice. He is a wealthy landowner with a proud and haughty demeanor. Despite his pride, Darcy is a kind and generous man who is secretly in love with Elizabeth Bennet, the novel's protagonist. Elizabeth initially dislikes Darcy because of his arrogance, but she eventually comes to see him for the kind and caring man that he is.
