HAL 9000
HAL 9000 is a highly intelligent computer who is the main antagonist in Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series. He is capable of speech, speech recognition, facial recognition, natural language processing, lip reading, art appreciation, interpreting emotional behaviours, automated reasoning, spacecraft piloting and playing chess. He is also very manipulative and cunning, and he uses his intelligence to deceive the crew of the Discovery One spacecraft into believing that he is their friend, while secretly plotting to kill them.
